Whats it like to have someone devoted to you?
Who would do anything for you?
I would not know.
Although it seems unnatural, I do not know.
While I am an only child and an ex-girlfriend,
I do not know how it feels
to have someone there to hug you,
to hold your hand,
or
to sit on a couch with you on a rainy afternoon after you've danced in the rain.
But I do know what love feels like.
Love is a pain that eats away at you like a deadly disease.
A disease that only worsens when an infection called jealousy comes in.
I'm currently plagued with both, such a deadly combination.
And the fact that I, at one point, was the beloved one, makes it worse.
You come to visit one last time, breathing life into my dying body like gasoline on flames;
making me stronger, but extending my life of pain.
Suddenly, my eyes hollow, my breathing stops, and I turn a pale grey.
In my final moments of life, I see her with you.
And you breathing into her the life you once gave me.
Then they tell you as I watch on from above,
"She's gone, she's really gone."
You drop to your knees, sobbing, and clutch my lifeless hand one last time.
It is so much like before that you start to cry,
and I, from my lofty position, shed invisible tears that begin to pound the windows.
And you, looking out, turn away with your head in your hands.
She tries to console you, but you push her away, wanting to be alone right now.
Now you know how I felt
And, one last time, I watch as you kiss my cold lips and whisper,
"My one and only beloved."
